My name is Kate Skappel and this will be my fourth year teaching 3rd grade here at Pullman! I grew up in Stevens Point, Wisconsin with my mom, dad, a younger brother and a younger sister. After graduating from high school, I went to college in Winona, Minnesota where I met my husband. He and I worked at Target together all through college. Ryan and I were married in August of 2002 and moved up to the Twin Cities area to look for jobs! I taught preschool for two years in Woodbury. After this I started substitute teaching in South Washington County Schools and was actually a long term sub for Mrs. Wildman at Pullman. The next year I was hired to teach first grade at Cottage Grove Elementary. I taught first grade there for two years and then transferred to Pullman to teach third grade!
I have two daughters, Ashleigh who is 4 and Macy who is 1! In our free time my family loves to go for walks, play games, golf, swim and read books together. Ashleigh loves coming to school to have lunch with Mommy so you will most likely meet my girls very soon!
In 2008, I earned my Master's Degree in Teaching and Learning from Saint Mary's University of Minnesota and am currently working on my degree in Educational Administration. I love to learn and will continue to learn for the rest of my life! I am looking forward to learning with you and your children throughout the 2009-2010 school year.
